Here is a quick and simple list of do’s and don’ts for fire safety:
- Do use emergency doors that have self-closing features;
- Do verify emergency doors stay closed to contain any fires;
- Do inspect emergency exit signs, and the rest of your fire safety systems, to verify that everything is functioning;
- Do resolve any recurring problems with your fire safety systems;
- Don’t obstruct doors, especially emergency doors;
- Don’t let unqualified persons inspect your fire safety equipment, contract with a certified inspector;
- Don’t forget to update fire safety systems when changing your facilities;
- Don’t accidentally set off fire or smoke detectors, or fire alarms.
